Wembley Stadium was for 80 years the English national stadium till it replaced and demolished with a new stadium with the same name. During its numerous decades of existence the stadium hosted various finals, among which a World Cup and European Championship last, and five European Cup finals. Wembley Stadium was worked to serve as the highlight of the British Empire Exhibition. It took a sum of 300 days to construct the stadium at a cost of £750,000. The stadium was finished on the 23rd of April 1923, three days before the first football coordinate was to occur at the stadium.
