2021-12-21

The Bund is a major waterfront area in Shanghai, China. Located by the Huangpu River across from Pudong, The Bund has served as one of Shanghai's most popular destinations for Westerners since its opening to foreigners in 1843. It was also the location of some important colonial buildings including HSBC Building and Customs House. The architecture on The Bund varies greatly with different periods shown through Victorian-era buildings, art deco skyscrapers, post-modernist highrises and more recent developments like Oriental Pearl Tower and Jin Mao Tower with their distinctive spiraling shapes. With so much history and plenty of things to do it's no wonder this is one of our favorite places to visit! It's an iconic part of the city that has been featured in many films, TV shows, and commercials over the years. The buildings along the Bund are all different colors which makes it easy to find your way around when you're exploring. There are tons of places to eat and drink as well as beautiful views of both Pudong (the other side of the river) and Huangpu River (which divides Shanghai).
