A regularly of often two-hundred-year-old beech trees, oak tree groves and different examples of our local species overlaying greater than 5,000 hectares make it the primary oxygen tank of Brussels. Its forested vistas lend themselves to all varieties of game: cycling, riding, Nordic taking walks, strolling… There also are three big fishing lakes for doing a niche of carp fishing. This ancient, surprisingly assorted wooded area is a categorized web site and a Natura 2000 conservation location. Its 5,000 hectares are divided between the country’s three areas, and 40% of its territory lies inside the Brussels Region. It consists of 5 nature reserves, woodland reserves and archaeological reserves. The 4000 hectares of this forest are known as Brussell's Lung. It's a part of the historic Charcoal Forest, complete of vintage beeches and very well. It used to be an awful lot larger; however Napoleon's wars and later industrialization seriously reduce down its length. It's got a lovely mystic atmosphere that makes for lots of contemplative strolling. That, strolling, biking or even horse-riding its trails are the most commonplace activities, however the woodland does have a lot else to provide!
