The tour starts with the exterior and the structural peculiarities of the building (designed in 1444 by Michelozzo, with well-known variants by Michelangelo) prior to proceeding to the yard and nursery to pass in audit all the stages in the Medicis' ascent to control with Cosimo the Elder, Piero the Gouty and Lorenzo the Magnificent, men of heavenly significance in culture and governmental issues, men who composed the historical backdrop of the fifteenth century city and who advanced the introduction of the Florentine Renaissance: one exceptional observer to their keenness is the valuable Chapel of the Magi on the main floor, radiantly frescoed by Benozzo Gozzoli.
