After two years of remodel work, the New Sacristy in the Medici Chapels has started another part in its centuries-long history. With new lighting, intensive cleaning and a focused on restoration of the burial place of Lorenzo and Giuliano de' Medici, the undertaking aims to restore aspects of its unique appearance to this space designed by Michelangelo. The Medici Chapels structure part of a stupendous complex created over almost two centuries in close association with the connecting church of San Lorenzo, considered the "official" church of the Medici family who lived in the adjoining castle on Via Larga.
