Kingston Lacy is a stunning 17th century Italian inspired us of a mansion set in attractive formal gardens and massive parkland. Step in the residence of the powerful and flamboyant Bankes circle of relatives who owned full-size swathes of Dorset for over four hundred years. From combating the forces of Oliver Cromwell, to accumulating one of the international’s biggest collections of historical Egyptian artefacts, the Bankes have a fascinating past. You’ll come upon many factors of interest as you tour this exceptional house; witness artwork by using Rubens, Van Dyck, Titian and Brueghel and explore the largest private series of historical Egyptian artefacts within the UK, all mementoes from William John Bankes’ fantastic travels thru Egypt in 1818. Discover the Spanish Room with its gilded leather and gilded ceiling brought from the Contarini Palace in Venice and don’t miss the interactive digital tour of Kingston Lacy in the Egyptian Room where you may take manage of the camera to delve into all the nooks and crannies of the house.
