The second and third floors of the royal residence must be visited by guided tours that run at 10am, 11am and early afternoon on weekdays and at 3pm, 4pm and 5pm during weekends; reservations are mandatory. Note the windows in the lovely Camera delle Impannate are not produced using glass – extravagance no one but nobles could manage in Renaissance Florence – however from waxed material panels attached to the wooden edge. The kitchen is put on the highest level, to ensure front rooms stayed cool and liberated from unsavory cooking odors and possible fires.
