This is one of a series of interconnected art museums; all operated below the banner of the Musées de Royaux des Beaux-arts de Belgique. The Oldmasters Museum (formerly the Musée d'Art Ancien) can pay unique interest to the so-known as Flemish Primitives of the 15th century, who revolutionized the art of portray with oil. The extraordinary series of Old Masters, witnessing to a rich and innovative past, covers a duration strolling from the 15th to the 18th centuries. The bulk of this series includes the portray of the former Southern Netherlands, with masterpieces through Rogier van der Weyden, Petrus Christus, Dirk Bouts, Hans Memling, Hieronymus Bosch, Lucas Cranach and Gerard David. For the sixteenth century, Pieter Bruegel the Elder is magnificently represented with primary works like The Fall of the Rebel Angels or The Census at Bethlehem.
