The Millennium Bridge opened to the public in 2000 for pedestrian-only, connecting St Paul's Cathedral on the north bank of the Thames with Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe in Southwark. The scaffold is an incredible spot to take photographs of the waterway, with its great perspectives on probably the most famous London milestones. The call, for another extension over the Thames, was won by the 'cutting edge of light' plan imagined by Arup (engineers), Foster and Partners (planners) and Sir Anthony Caro (stone worker).
