The Knight's Building (Palazzina del Cavaliere) located on the eponymous Rampart (Bastione del Cavaliere) was build in the era of the Republic of Florence, between 1527 and 1530. On the top, as uncovered by the lunette painted by Giusto Utens (1599-1602), there used to be a structure where Knight Malatesta Baglioni resided, giving this piece of Boboli Gardens its name. It is the gathering point of the Rampart worked during the siege of Florence in 1527, the fourteenth-century walls and the external divider commissioned by Cosimo de' Medici somewhere in the range of 1546 and 1548 during the contention with Siena.
