The KattenKabinet ("Cat Cabinet") is an art museum in Amsterdam dedicated to works depicting cats. The museum collection includes art work, drawings, sculptures and other works of art via Pablo Picasso, Rembrandt, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Corneille, Sal Meijer, Théophile Steinlen, and Jože Ciuha, amongst others. The museum is housed in a canalside constructing at Herengracht 497, within the grand Gouden Bocht ("Golden Bend") of this canal. The owner lives on the second one ground of the building together with his circle of relatives. There are some cats in the museum as well. The residence and the adjoining constructing at Herengracht 499 had been built in 1667 for the patrician brothers Willem and Adriaen van Loon. Through the luck of the draw, Willem was given the residence at variety 497. Later, the residence turned into inhabited by means of Amsterdam mayor Jan Calkoen and Amsterdam pensionary Engelbert François van Berckel, among others. De Kattenkabinet or the Cat Cabinet is a small museum positioned in the patrician house and was based in 1990 by means of William Meijer who turned into a very wealthy Dutchman in the location.
