An athenaeum is described as "an association of individuals interested in scientific and literary pursuits, meeting for the reason of mutual improvement; a literary or scientific club." The public is welcome to view the primary floor and exhibition gallery, even as a membership is required to visit all last flooring. Non-contributors interested by exploring and learning greater of the construction’s history can take a weekly Art and Architecture Tour that is open to the general public. The 40-minute excursion focuses on the importance of the Athenaeum’s architectural records in addition to its quality arts collection. The constructing has been moved, multiplied, and renovated multiple times over the past centuries, which includes most these days in 1999-2002. There are unfortunately a few predominant caveats to widespread admission. For one, you are only allowed to go to the first ground, which pales in contrast to the lovely 5th floor reading room. Tours fee $2 plus admission and are Tuesdays at 5:30pm, Thursdays at 3pm, and Saturdays at 11am.
