The Basilica San Pietro in Vincoli is unique from any other church built during the same time-frame thanks to its scarce and simplicity decoration. Under the fundamental special raised area is the reliquary wherein the chains of Saint Peter, the church's most significant component, are kept. The Basilica San Pietro in Vincoli is truly worth visiting not just because of its Michelangelo's massive statue of Moses and interesting design, but since it is not normal for some other Roman church. As per legend, the Empress Eudoxia gave Pope Leo I the chains with which Saint Peter had been shackled in Jerusalem as a present, and to house these, he commissioned San Pietro in Vincoli Basilica to be assembled. The mausoleum is faintly lit until one of the visitors makes a gift and it lights up, something which is done all through most of the churches in Rome. Among the small altars found on the two sides of the church, we suggest investigating those found on the left hand side. Visitors will see frescoes portraying skeletons and different images which are not usually shown in Catholic churches.
